Tours
We offer 3 Types of tours
Self-Tours:
We offer free self-tours for individuals and groups. The Cultural Center provides brief information pamphlets, and a staff member can be available upon request to answer any questions you may have. Please note that we cannot guarantee the Longhouse space will be accessible at the time of your visit; our Longhouse space is used as a gathering place for the tribe, as well as being reserved regularly for private groups. Despite being a less-structured tour option, calling to confirm your visit is recommended for self-tours with 10 or more people. (206) 431-1582
Large Group, In Person Education Program:
*We are not currently booking educational tours- Please check back in February 2025
Our traditional educational programs combine history, art and culture. During their 1-2 hour experience, students participate in the local and Indigenous culture they have been studying. In addition to visiting the “We Are Still Here” and “Spirit Returns” exhibit area, we open the door to a deeper understanding of the Duwamish Peoples with traditional songs, dance, and storytelling in the winter cedar longhouse.
Schools will be greeted by a cultural teacher and staff member and provided with a memorable and age appropriate experience. Students may eat their brown bag lunches or snacks in the longhouse after the presentation. Please ensure that students are supervised by a chaperone at all times, especially in the gallery and gift-shop areas.
This tour is based on the availability of a cultural educator. There is a small fee paid to our educator to book this private tour. Large groups, and school field trips are available by appointment only.
